|| Make up Splurge ||
It is well known that beauty and fashion go hand in hand, your choice of eye shadow, lipstick and general make up can either MAKE or BREAK your outfit. After watching some of the youtube videos by the beaut Carli Bybel (who i highly recommend for anyone wanting to play around with their current beauty regime- http://www.youtube.com/user/CarliBel55) i decided it was time to splurge a little and expand my makeup wardrobe.
// What I brought – Review //
This palette i would recommend, especially if you have light eyes! The twelve matt and shimmery colors are simple and neutral but look absolutely stunning once on and easy to blend. It even comes with a handy little eye shadow brush and travel size eye shadow primer (i normally use concealer to do this job). I have used the palette for both my day time soft makeup look and the more bold striking evening looks.
//MAC Cosmetics – Satin Lipstick – Myth – £15.00 //
This is an all time classic nude by MAC and definitely a must have. One warning though…i would advise to not put it on too heavy handed as it can erase out your lips completely…and its NOT a great look. Team it up with a pinky lipgloss just to give it that extra shaaabang!
//Benefit – Brow Zings Brow Shaping Kit – £23.50 //
Eyebrows are an important part of your face just look at the lovely Cara Delevingne, those bushy eyebrows have made her stand out more than any other model at the moment. Nevertheless my eyebrows and I have never really been friends….either they are too thin (normally my own doing over plucking – was cool at one point? no..ok just me) or wonky or they become an amazon that i can not tame. After some advise i decided to try out Benefit Brow Zings Brow Shaping Kit and i LOVE IT!! Although its taken me about a week to get used to using the kit (even though it comes with instructions and the woman in Benefit demonstrated it to me) i dont know how i ever lived with out it!!
//Clinique – Superbalanced Makeup – Cream Chamois – £22.00//
Foundation wise i only wear Clinique i seem to always have bad reactions to any other foundations. Always try and put your foundation on with a foundation brush i use MAC Cosmetics 190 foundation brush, i think it gives it a smoother finish.
//MAC Cosmetics – Pro Long Wear Concealer – NC30 – £15.50//
I’ve heard nothing but good things about this concealer and i can confirm that it actually lives up to the name “long wear”! I apply it with the MAC Cosmetics 195 Concealer Brush, however you can just use your fingers it does pretty much does the same job. You only need a minimal amount to cover up any of the imperfections that you do not want the rest of the world to see (spots, even dark circles around the eyes – although i still use my Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat).
//L’Oreal – Telescopic Mascara – £11.99//
Although its not seen in the photo, i also brought this incredible mascara. I would say hand on heart its better than any of the big branded mascara such a Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, etc. that i have used over the years. Not only is it half the cost but it actually gives me longer and fuller lashes. OK, yes i admit it does clump the lashes a little but i quite like it, its gives a spidery look. I do have one complaint about it…the annoying bendy brush which i keep struggling to put back in the tube but other than that it is a good lengthening mascara and i think its my new favorite!
Hope you all enjoyed my little review of my recent purchases 🙂 feel free to message me if you need any more information!
