The black dress, a classic fashion staple that every woman has one of somewhere in their wardrobe! Whether you have it as a midi, body-con, floor length or a fuller skirt dress, it is a timeless fashion trend. The beauty of wearing a simple black dress is the ability it gives you to style it to make it your own.
This particular black dress is from high street store River Island, it is a midi bandage bandeau dress which is great for a sophisticated evening out. The bandage fit means that it is quite a figure hugging dress. I know what you are thinking, figure hugging aka tight can only mean one thing that it will see all the lumps and bumps that we hate! The thought of a tight dress inspires fear in the majority of us, however, this body-con dress is actually pretty flattering. Being predominately made of polyester (which I must admit is quite rough to the touch) I felt that it actually smooths out your shape rather than highlighting insecurities. Additionally I adore the sweetheart neckline, which I found extremely complimentary as unlike others it is not too low cut. This dress even comes in a gorgeous yellowy lime shade (seen here), perfect for summer! And if you are not a fan of the all over body-con it also is available in with a full skirt.
For my look I decided to pair my faithful black dress with a pair of strappy black heels from Zara and a grey glitter clutch bag that I found in a charity shop. Given the simplicity of the dress, I thought that I would wear this gorgeous silver and mint green statement necklace. I think that the necklace adds the finishing touch to the outfit.
What are your thoughts on my classic black dress look?
