Last Sunday, I was invited by the gorgeous Em from My Pale Skin Blog to accompany her to Kensington Olympia in West London for the Olympia Beauty show. I was thrilled at this opportunity as I had never been to the Olympia beauty show before, although I had heard such great reviews about it from so many bloggers!
When we arrived we made our way firstly up to the press area, as we were both lucky enough to be booked in for some treatments and pampering.
I was booked in for a ‘makeover’ appointment with Jane Iredale cosmetics. The lovely makeup artist, Aileen Wallace, was on hand to give me a run through of the cosmetic products being used during my makeover. The most interesting product that Aileen used during the makeover had to be the base loose mineral powder, a lightweight and buildable coverage powder foundation. Personally, I have never been attracted to using a powder based foundation, I just do not feel that it gives you the same flawless finish as a liquid foundation. However, I was happily surprised with the loose mineral powder as not only did it effectively hide my blemishes but it also gave a flawless lightweight finish.
Em was booked in for a lash treatment with Nouveau Lashes, they applied a set of individual lashes on her. The lashes looked incredible on Em, they gave her longer, thicker and most importantly very natural-looking lashes!
During our time in the press area we were both approached to be interviewed for the Olympia Beauty 2014 video. We were asked about our blogs and what our thoughts were on the concept of blogging. I have never been interviewed before so it was a really interesting experience.
Here are some of the photos Ems took at the event as I forgot my camera that day:
Towards the end of the day we decided to venture to the skin care section; we were approached by the iiaa (International Institute For Anti Aging) to have a complimentary skin analysis. Right, I will be completely honest here I have never been great with taking care of my skin, yes, I can’t deny it…I use face wipes to take off my makeup!! After a long day at work following a billion step skin care routine to take off my makeup is the last thing on my mind. During the analysis I couldn’t help but feel a tad judged, I felt as though they were focused on selling me the products they had on offer rather than actually giving sound advice.
Nevertheless, Em and I popped over to Dermalogica for another skin consultation. This consultation differed greatly from the later, the consultant was extremely helpful and honest through out. Although she did recommend some products that she thought would be ideal for my skin, she did not at any point make me feel pressured into buying them!
I had a great time with Em at the event and I can’t wait until the next one!
Before the event Em took some outfit of the day pictures for my blog, so keep your eyes peeled for our little collaboration!! 🙂
